beginning with Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
FDR,
a man who gave me a sense,
even in my childhood innocence
that a president
was kind of important
as I listened to grownups rave
about the role he played

The water at Ocean Beach’s Dog Beach reopened to the public after being closed since Thursday due to a sewage spill, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality.

The spill occurred upstream in the San Diego River and raised bacteria levels to an amount that exceeded state health standards.

Above map shows the “No” vote for Measure E in November 2020.

And it clearly demonstrates why District 2 voters are still upset with Councilwoman Jen Campbell. Campbell was responsible for placing Measure E — the proposed elimination of the 30 foot height limit in the Midway — on the ballot.

Looking at the vote from then-District 2, solid majorities throughout the district voted 50% to 56% against the measure. Campbell’s half of Clairemont also opposed in with at least 50″%. Ironically, Midway District voters also voted against it by a majority.

In downtown New Orleans, Entergy Corporation’s highrise headquarters looms ominously  over mere mortals in the French Quarter and on Bourbon Street.

On August 2 the Baton Rouge Louisiana Advocate reported, “Louisiana Public Service Commission Suing Federal Energy Commission.”  (FERC). The Advocate explained that the lawsuit alleged that FERC ” is slow walking a decision regarding Entergy’s Grand Gulf nuclear plant.”

As of this writing, neighbors on the 4600 block of Long Branch Avenue report that city crews are currently beginning to remove the dead Torrey Pine on that block.

Carole Landon-Stone has sent several of work crews sawing off limbs of the tree. And the aftermath.

It could take the crew a couple of days.
