Three potential designs were displayed and discussed:

A “Modern Spanish Monterey” style which proposed building a high-ceiling, multi window-pane conference room behind the current historic library building.

A “Modular Flexibility” version which has lower ceilings, wood blinders and a pointed-sloped roof similar to the current building.

And finally a “Modern/Movement” design which incorporated a reddish/brownish stucco on the exterior high-ceiling walls, which gives this design a lot more color and vibrancy to the exterior.

A District 2 city council candidate community forum was held Tuesday, May 31 at the Masonic Hall in Ocean Beach. One notable no-show was the incumbent Jennifer Campbell. The other no-show was Joel Day.

Campbell never responded to the invitation. Day said he would be there, but, so far, no reason has been offered as to why Day did not show up. Mandy Havlik, Lori Saldaña, and Linda Lukacs did participate.

Apologies to Buffalo Springfield and their 1966 counterculture protest ballad, but the edited lyrics below are eerily prescient today.

“There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear”
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down

“It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”
And that has always
been my thing,
giving in to
the swing of things.
Like the other day
while my family

A real effort is being expended to torpedo Lori Saldaña’s District 2 city council campaign by sending out hit piece mailers with information based on distortions and falsehoods. There are also emails going around. One is from Jennifer Campbell blasting Saldaña with – oddly – the exact same accusations as the mailers.

One has to wonder why such an effort against Saldaña. Is it just because she is testing well in the polls? Maybe one reason is that Saldaña may have offended Gloria because she did not appreciate the ridiculous video

Complaint Lodged Against Gil Cabrera for Violating Airport Authority Ethics Code by Accepting Improper Donations to His Attack Group

Staff  May 31, 2022  0 Comments on Complaint Lodged Against Gil Cabrera for Violating Airport Authority Ethics Code by Accepting Improper Donations to His Attack Group

Below is a copy of an anonymous ethics complaint against Gil Cabrera, chair of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority and the source of hit piece mailers against Lori Saldaña. It appears that it may have been generated by The Rag’s exposure of Cabrera as the source of the mailers, containing outright lies and distortions about Saldaña, that people are finding in their mailboxes.

The complaint alleges that Cabrera violated the Airport Authority’s Code of Ethics. The complaint says that Cabrera accepted contributions to Cabrera’s PAC from three people who do business with the airport.
