Finally, after months and even years of construction and delays, Spill the Beans has opened its newly fashioned cannabis-lovers drive-thru location at the busy corner of Newport Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard in Ocean Beach.
The OB store is the fifth location for the café and the first to offer drive-thru service — and has been anticipating fans known as “Pot Heads.” Spill the Beans’ new location is at 4805 Newport Ave. Starting July 1, hours will expand from the current 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to a full 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The 900-square-foot spot includes a walk-up window, outdoor seating for about 50 guests, and a laid-back beach vibe complete with mellow music and signature bagels that helped the brand rise to local fame. … Spill the Beans is known for its unique bagels, developed by Chef Karina Orozco, which are made with just five ingredients and boiled in agave syrup for a soft, chewy texture. Flavors range from the savory Bacon & White Cheddar to the tangy Sundried Tomato & Cheese, with rotating monthly specials to keep things fresh. Customers can pair them with a variety of creative spreads like Bananas Foster cream cheese or White Truffle & Parmesan butter.
In addition to bagels, the menu features hearty “bagel sandos” like the San Dieggo (two g’s intended) — stacked with eggs, bacon, two cheeses, and cayenne aioli — as well as lighter options such as chia berry bowls and avocado toast. The drink lineup is equally diverse, offering everything from cold brew and matcha to chaga, teas, juices, and a full range of milk alternatives, including macadamia and oat.
