Eric Law, the chair of the Peninsula Community Planning Board, has just announced that Navy representatives will provide a briefing to the community on Navy plans for the redevelopment of the NAVWAR Old Town Campus.
The update will be at the Peninsula Community Planning Board monthly meeting on Thursday, June 18th, 2026 — 6PM at the Point Loma Hervey Library Community Room, 3701 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107.
Law stated, “The NAVWAR Old Town Campus (OTC) Revitalization program manager and the Navy Region Southwest Public Affairs Officer have confirmed that they will provide a briefing to the community on the OTC program ….”
The room accommodates about 150 people, so there should be room for everyone. The briefing will be the first item on the agenda after community representative reports (see pcpb.net for agenda updates when posted).

This screen name is one if my favorites. A long time commenter here on The Rag. I think data centers are headed to space (potentially)…. But who knows in this corruptly run city.
Let’s hope the redevelopment of this property doesn’t reflect a decrease in naval technology/cryptology/naval systems capabilities.

Navy representatives to attempt to put a cheery spin on the devastating community impacts of the NAVWAR project. Point Loma residents are becoming furious.
10,000 housing units on 76 acres at NAVWAR. 4250 housing units on 49 acres in the Midway Rising Project. These two proposed projects, both on public land, are the template for the entire 1300 acre plus community.
Will the Navy representatives address:
-the catastrophic traffic implications?
– the impact of creating the template for greater-than-Manhattan density – potentially 150,000 to 150,000 people in the district – on San Diego’s coast?
– why is the Navy ignoring the 30′ coastal height limit on private development?
– the loss of coastal and beach access?
– the giveaway of the most prized publicly owned flat coastal tract in Southern California?
– the major impact on military operations?
– why the Navy chose an alternative that surrounds a top secret facility with a forest of potential eavesdropping posts instead of the more secure and community friendly alternative one?
That whole area needs to be demo’d to make room for another runway. Airport desperately needs another runway, so demo Belleau Woods Ave, the PCH, & the NAVWAR buildings. Use emiment domain; take all those buildings out & build another runway. San Diego should have moved the damn airport fifty years ago.
