By Valerie Tarico / AlterNet

After an autumn of Bible-based gay bashing, and Religious Right candidates with “rape Tourette’s,” and End Times aficionados gunning for Armageddon rather than peace in the Middle East, some nontheists may be finding it a little tough to feel warm and chirpy about the birth of the baby Jesus.

It has been a while since I regaled the readers of my columns about my experiences of on-line dating. Lest you think that it has improved – or that I have met a “match” let me enlighten you during this holiday season.

I have had some very interesting, very hilarious experiences lately. I am truly amazed at the responses, and subsequent conversations I have had with some of the male subjects.

Some of these “episodes” sound like others I have already written about. Let me assure you that these are all “new” acquaintances. Let’s get started…

Called the “Ocean Beach Lifeguard Bronze Memorial”, it is planned, once funded, to have the sculpture located 29 feet south of the Ocean Beach Lifeguard Station at the foot of Santa Monica adjacent to the public sidewalk. And the item will be on the OB Planning Board agenda for the General Meeting on December 4 and planners are hoping for a good turnout from the community …

Sustainability 101: When Should Passengers Intervene on the Bus?

Picture this: You’re on the bus and you see a mother with three beautiful school-age children and one adorable toddler in a stroller. The children are well-behaved, the toddler is babbling excitedly, and the mother is yelling at the children, especially the toddler, even covering his mouth, threatening to slap his face if he doesn’t sit still and be quiet.

What would you do?

We Lost a “Mover and Shaker” of Point Loma – Nancy E. Miller

Judi Curry  October 26, 2012  0 Comments on We Lost a “Mover and Shaker” of Point Loma – Nancy E. Miller

We’ve lost a long-time “mover and shaker” of Point Loma with the recent passing of Nancy Miller (Wilberg).

Nancy will be remembered as a long-time – over half a century – local Peninsula Democratic Party activist and an early supporter of marriage equality. She was a member of both the Point Loma Democratic Club and San Diego County’s Democratic Central Committee for over 50 years. She served two terms as the president of the Point Loma dems, and as vice-chair for the county-wide dems.

As a party activist, Nancy attended over 20 state conventions, and in recognition of her service to the San Diego Democratic Party she received that organization’s highest honor, the “1996 Henry Auerback Award.” Former Assemblywoman Lori Saldana was quoted in the U-T San Diego obituary for Miller, that “Nancy hosted many Democratic Club meeting at her home on Niagara Avenue.”
