More Fallout From OB Town Council Scandal — Another Resignation

There’s been more fallout from the scandal within the Ocean Beach Town Council that was revealed to the community at their last meeting on Jan. 24.

Tracy Dezenso just announced that she was resigning from the Board of Directors after serving on it for two and a half years.

Here’s her statement:

Friends,

I have resigned from the Town Council. I want to thank everyone who voted for me to be on the Town Council. I really enjoyed the 2.5 years working with my fellow volunteers to produce the many (oh so many) fun OB holiday events. With the support of the TC I was able to focus on what I love, advocacy. It offered an larger avenue to call attention to our Michael Mills STVR problem, to have a stronger voice in the vendor ordinance (and its current rewrite stage), and offered me a way to be more widely available to help our neighbors.

I’m deeply saddened by the TCs current state of affairs, and on a personal level, I’m upset with how it has made me question my relationships with some of my OB neighbors, but I’m hopeful the TC will survive under its current leadership.

As always, I will remain an advocate for our community and at the “service” of the community if needed. I do intend to continue on with the OB Planning Board to help keep an eye out for unchecked development and nutty city planning, to continue working with the STVR group to help change the current mess of an ordinance, and to continue to advocate for renters rights and rental affordability.

I am saddened that Tracy will no longer on the board. Unfortunately she was collateral damage from the malfeasance of others. I am happy to hear she will continue to be a champion for the community. We need more advocates like Tracy.

Maybe a lesson learned on how to cooperate with fellow volunteers, even when things get messy. They choose to be there, but if they’re mistreated, they can choose to spend their energy elsewhere.

Yet, people’s patience at times can be endless. Apparently, the former president mistreated his other board members for 2+ years – yet they stayed.

It was probably all those misspellings of her name from the obrag, she just couldn’t take it anymore.

That’s preposterous! We have the best proofreaders who can skimmer down a flooded Abbott Street in a kayak ever! I dare you to find more than 20!
