Watch “Terriers” while you still can – 5 more reasons to see it …

Source  October 27, 2010  15 Comments on Watch “Terriers” while you still can – 5 more reasons to see it …

It’s an unfortunate fact that often the most creative, highest-quality shows on TV struggle to find enough viewers to survive. That’s what’s happening right now with FX’s new private-eye series, “Terriers.” It’s hands-down the best new series of the fall, yet no one’s watching. That has to change — come on people, don’t let this be one of those shows you discover on DVD a year from now and go “Huh, this is great, why didn’t I watch this back before it got canceled?”

Cancellation is where “Terriers” is headed unless it can show improvement in the ratings by season’s end. The season’s half over …

Catchin’ up on “Terriers”: The Pilot – First Episode

Dave Rice  October 26, 2010  11 Comments on Catchin’ up on “Terriers”: The Pilot – First Episode

As a rule, I hate soap operas for several reasons. First, I’m not that big on TV in the first place, and when I do watch I tend toward news or other politically relevant programming. Since I don’t watch a lot of television, I can’t be counted on to plop my butt on the couch at precisely the same time week after week to vegetate for an hour or more, so I think I should be able to pick up and put down a show as I please. South Park works for this, but if I miss an episode or three of a soap, I’m lost and might as well go find a magazine article or Rag post to feed my decidedly inattentive attention span.

Five Reasons to Watch the Ocean Beach ‘Terriers’

Source  October 13, 2010  20 Comments on Five Reasons to Watch the Ocean Beach ‘Terriers’

The fall season hasn’t treated new shows kindly. With few exceptions, not many programs made a critical splash, and one of the few that did (‘Lone Star’) got the boot after just two episodes.

It’s all well and good to think in theoretical terms about what can be done to ensure that only the safest, most inoffensive and blandest programming gets the green light in the near future. But I’m here to propose a simpler, more concrete, and potentially more effective way to combat a future slew of boring TV: watch FX’s ‘Terriers.’

Lost in the shuffle in more ways than one, ‘Terriers’ had quietly produced five consecutively strong episodes right out of the gate.

“Terriers” Finally Arives – Premier Showing Tonight – Sept 8th – at the Harp

Frank Gormlie  September 8, 2010  13 Comments on “Terriers” Finally Arives – Premier Showing Tonight – Sept 8th – at the Harp

The day has finally arrived. The premier of the television series, “Terriers”, shot mostly in Ocean Beach, is this evening on FX at 10pm. For months, OBcieans have endured blocked streets, parking taken, lighting mechanisms in front of their fave stores on Newport, throngs of spectators hanging around the film crews, and quite a bit of controversy and complaints. There was even that nude swimmer who disrupted one filming.

Terriers is a show about two private investigators who are tenacious, just like the terrier dogs.

In the series Terriers, Michael Raymond-James plays Britt Pollack and Donal Logue plays Hank Dolworth, two men with questionable pasts who join together to form their own private investigation team. On August 3, 2010 the two gentlemen along with the producers discussed their new series with members of the Television Critics Association.

Actors hit it off in OB-filmed “Terriers”

Source  August 3, 2010  2 Comments on Actors hit it off in OB-filmed “Terriers”

By Maria Elena Fernandez / Los Angeles Times / August 3, 2010

Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James like each other so much that they decided to live together in San Diego when they were filming 13 episodes of FX’s new drama, “Terriers.”

The two actors met on NBC’s canceled series, “Life,” and bonded over Jack Kerouac’s “Big Sur.” Later, fate put them in the same room again when FX was casting the pivotal role of Britt Pollack, who is best friend to Logue’s character, Hank Dolworth.

Union-Tribune Discovers TV Discovering OB

Frank Gormlie  June 15, 2010  26 Comments on Union-Tribune Discovers TV Discovering OB

The Union-Tribune has finally discovered that a film crew has been filming in OB for the past umpteen weeks. On today’s (6-15-10) front page is an article entitled, “TV discovers a San Diego star: O.B.”, with some cool observations and comments from the television stars and producers themselves, plus the OB Rag is mentioned along with some of our gnarly commenters.

Here are some great quotes – the first by actor Raymond-James:

“Ocean Beach has become a character in the show that is just as big, if not bigger, than Donal and I. There is a bit of a scruffiness and scrappiness about our characters that fits right into O.B.”

I’m a Muir Ave resident here with my two cents on the current shoot of ‘Terriers.’

We received a hand delivered notice about the upcoming filming 2 weeks before production began (a nice courtesy indeed). Listed on the one page letter was the name of the Production Co’s contact who welcomed contact from local residents with any concerns they may have.

One day while sitting out front, …
