The picture snapped in Hillcrest yesterday and sent by a reader tells the story, who said, “We paid at our meters for this Todd Gloria policy propaganda. He’s defunding libraries, rec centers, and arts & cultural institutions. But he’s spending on signs like this one.”

Parking meters, cams, whatever wired electronica, the damp salty sea air in our town corrodes them quick
Nice expensive fantasy though
They’re not repairing the meters. They’re repairing the street. And street repairs are good.
What’s not so good: Spending money to brag that the street repairs are paid for by parking meter revenues. No one is going to feel better about feeding meters at times when they used to be free because their dollars go to street repairs & political propaganda.
Street repairs should be paid for by the general fund or by meters that exist to serve business needs for customer parking, not just to fill the city coffers. It’s because the city has mismanaged revenues and maintenance that they now have to try to convince us that it’s necessary to gouge us more at meters during evenings and on Sundays. But that sign is not persuasive, it’s just a waste of tax dollars.
Think of how much was spent on all those new parking meters on city streets and the parking kiosks in Balboa Park.
G-L-O-R-I-A-A-A and Council come up with an idea on taxing us to pay for their bad money management and then spend more money to implement these hair brain ideas.
I think it’s “hare-brained,” but I’m totally with you.
I will say I just had a “get it done” response in a day from a fire hydrant parking issue. Never before until now.
