Seven Elected to Peninsula Community Planning Board

Congrats to Mandy Havlik, Andrew Hollingworth, Angela Vedder, Dee Brown, Cori Salcido, who were elected to 3 year seats on the Peninsula Community Planning Board and Eric Law and Robert Jackson who were elected to 1 year seats.

Here are their bios from the PCPB website:

Mandy Havlik

Mandy Havlik currently serves as the First Vice Chair of the Peninsula Community Planning Board (PCPB). She is a proud spouse of a disabled Navy Combat Veteran, a mother of two, and an indigenous woman who is a registered member of the Timiskaming First Nation in Canada. Most recently, Mandy ran for City Council in District 2 in 2022 and is preparing to run again in 2026.

As a dedicated community advocate and volunteer, Mandy consistently demonstrates her commitment to the Peninsula community. When the pandemic disrupted food supplies, including school lunch programs, she collaborated with Todd Gloria’s staff to establish Dewey Elementary as a food distribution center, ensuring families had access to essential resources during a critical time.

Mandy is a strong proponent of traffic safety, championing initiatives to mitigate dangerous transit areas and improve community safety. She is also a passionate environmentalist, working on the PCPB and as a founding member of Kate’s Trees, advocating for tree planting throughout San Diego. Her focus on sustainable development emphasizes balancing affordable housing needs with preserving the community’s quality of life.

In her free time, Mandy enjoys cooking, singing, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Mandy has made significant contributions to her community through various roles, including: Ocean Beach Elementary Garden Coordinator: For three years, she collaborated with parents and staff to teach children gardening, growing organic produce enjoyed in classrooms and the cafeteria.

She has been, and continues to be, an outspoken defender of coastal access and the preservation of beach communities. She is a staunch advocate for maintaining the 30-foot height limit in the coastal region and fought against Measure E and Measure C which sought to repeal this critical rule in the Midway neighborhood.

Mandy is committed to protecting coastal access for all residents and ensuring the voices of the community are heard on issues such as lot splits and backyard apartments, particularly in areas like Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and Clairemont.

Mandy has advocated for the community, protect coastal access, and promote sustainable, thoughtful development, or one who will prioritize unchecked development and over-densification with little regard for community input.

Mandy’s vision is clear: to include and advocate for the community, preserve access to the coast, and bring common-sense solutions that are community centered and sustainable. (We edited out a huge paragraph devoted to her group affiliations.) PS Mandy is a candidate for District 2
