I love the description of how this was “reclaimed’ from San Diego Bay. Human language is so inventive!
Oh wait, maybe they meant it’s a landfill of loose unconsolidated sediment stolen from the bottom of San Diego Bay? Or maybe it is actually the thousands of years of sediment deposited by the San Diego River that flowed into the Bay they scraped up and used as fill?Before humans changed the course of the river to OB, that Bay had always deposited its burden in the Bay!
Isn’t this on or near the Rose Canyon Fault Line? Didn’t Julian have a 3. something and a 5.2 yesterday ?
Does anyone putting up these buildings know what the term ‘liquefaction’ is? Or how big heavy buildings built on these kinds of landfills don’t generally do too well in earthquakes? But profit is profit, eh?
