Neighborhood Groups Urge San Diegans to Submit Written Comments Against Bonus ADU Program Today — Monday, March 3

City Council Hearing is on Tuesday, March 4

A number of neighborhood groups are urging their constituents and other San Diego residents to attend a City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 4th to protest the city’s Bonus ADU Program, but they’re also asking people to submit written comments — and the deadline is today, Monday, March 3.

Some are asking residents who attend to wear yellow in solidarity with Encanto residents who are trying to have the infamous Footnote 7 abolished.

For example, the group UC PEEPS have been broadcasting the council meeting where council members will consider rolling back San Diego’s excessive Bonus ADU Program regulations to align with State law.

They are stressing to have folks submit their written comments. Here’s their instructions:

How to Speak In Person

Please wear yellow shirts to show solidarity with our Encanto neighbors who are fighting against Footnote 7, a deceitful tactic the City Planning Department used to single out the southeast community and allow developers to build housing units at a higher density than other San Diego communities — without any public input.

If you choose to be a speaker, we recommend that you speak no less than two minutes, since one minute goes by in a flash and council members don’t absorb what we have to say in such a short amount of time. Since speakers most likely will be allowed just one minute, it will be necessary for you to get others to cede time to you.

We need to fill the council chambers and council members ears with our voices of reason. You can magnify our voices by encouraging your family, friends, and neighbors to join us.

  1. What to say to y’all?

SD beach resident born and raised, back when …
We , or rather, my parents and friends, protected the coast in the 70’s from high rises…. 30ft height limit west of the I-5…. For the betterment of all San Diego, and California , and the world
When the Coastal Commission was new and engaged , Not a “for purchase development agency “

Fresh cool ocean air to all the interiors, beach access, environmental protections…
    All really good future thinking…
From the past peeps in the 1970’s,
I was just a kid, but paid attention

    Keep up the good works
Worth the fight, for the neighborhoods, for the environment
    Be the ones
    Ones+=millions

    On a detailed mission:
search the anomalies, in the developer plans, legalities, they are always there. …
Mostly very sloppy developers and bureaucrats…
