Please read the propositions/measures carefully and make an educated decision. Many sound good in writing until you actually read about how they are getting the money and where it is going. If in doubt don’t vote or vote No (status quo)
Agree with this statement. They may sound “good” but….
It’s disturbing that the SD League of Woman Voters and SD Democratic Club are saying “YES” to measure C – increasing the height limit!
Yes it is, but the local PL-OB Democratic Club is against Measure C.
Hallelujah – for the PL Dem Club but they need to communicate and educate with San Diego Dem Club since voting is for all in San Diego
I am sorry to see that you have no recommendation for Councilperson in District 2.
Since somebody is going to get elected, your lack of recommendation indicates the two candidates are equally bad, (or good.) I couldn’t disagree more.
Jen Campbell, our incumbent, has shown complete disdain for Ocean Beach. Her office doesn’t return calls or emails. She doesn’t show up when we need her for things like the palm tree fiasco. She refused to come to multiple OB Town Council candidate forums. She takes credit for passing the vendor ordinance, but then does nothing to ensure it’s enforced. She said she was against STVR’s and then immediately passed a law that the STVR lobby was ok with.
Linda Lukacs on the other hand truly cares about our community. Yes, she is a Republican, but she is a moderate. The OB Rag should not be looking strictly down party lines. Linda supports NO on Measure C, while Jen is in favor of it. Linda supports a multi-pronged approach to homelessness starting with addressing mental health. Linda is pro-environment. These are progressive traits, despite her registration.
Completely agree with all of this. Also, it would be nice if there was a reason the OB Rag recommended some of these measures instead of a “blind” yes/no.
If Lukacs truly cares about our community, why have we never heard from her before this election? I researched her and could find no political action from her ever before this. She only raised $12,000 for the primary and only spent $8,000 but a PAC spent $150k on her. She was set up to ensure Lori Saldaña did not oppose Campbell. No one really knows anything about her except that she voted for t-rump in 2016. Is that the person you want on council?
Geoff Page Can you advise source of comment on Ms. Lukacs’ Trump vote in 2016?? To my knowledge voting is private and I can find nothing in searching. Seems a bit more mud slinging with no substance. Unlike our other candidate she is engaging community members I believe with the goal of making our community an even better place to live. Perhaps that lack of political history you cite is what is needed for a fresh look. From my research I see her as a well respected longterm resident of the community who is addressing issues we are all concerned about in a thoughtful way.

I attended a forum where Lukacs was present. She told everyone to email her if they had any questions and said she answered every one herself. So, I did and I asked two questions. Did you vote for t-rump in 2016? Do you still support him?
After waiting a considerable time and receiving no reply, I tried again. This time she responded and answered my second question. She refused to answer the first question.
I would have had more respect for her had she been honest and answered the first question. But, she didn’t because she did not want to say she voted for him.
We get it, it sucks, but it’s sour grapes at this point. We are left with two choices. And we’re in this shitty situation, because of Jen Campbell’s team. Proof positive that they will spend big money and go out of their way to work against our interests by dividing and conquering the progressive voters.
Do what you gotta do, but I’ll take an unknown any day over someone that actively works against us. I have met with Linda, and she does have a lot to learn, but seems to be genuine and have an appetite for it. And she knows how to run a public meeting, that alone puts her ahead of Jen. Who heard of Jen Campbell before David Axelrod told her to run for council in order to remove Zapf and secure a veto proof majority for the incoming Todd crew? Jen had zero political footprint as well.
I am asking people to vote for Murray, not Singer for Judge. I have information that I do not want to publish that is very negative about him, his contempt for the people who appear before him (he’s in Traffic Court and also deals with lots of unhomed people who have various misdemeanors) has been noted by many including homeless advocates.

I totally agree , The OB rag needs to state thier reasons to the WHY on these measures and people . A explanation would be nice and a Open Debate also would be nice . Other Views would be nice , Pros and Cons . Glen I also agree with you on your statements . No to Jen to much damage has been done ,and 4 more years of damage ( I hope Not) . A non vote means you have No reason to complain or voice your opinions . Just my humble opinoins and I did Vote .
Agreed. Why No on Measure A? What does that have to do with OB?
I strongly oppose Measure B, for several reasons, including the fact that it will not have a true impact on “equity” and that guarantees a monopoly to city employees for residential trash and recycling pick up which eliminates competition from private haulers.
