Will stand up to Trump’s attacks and push for CA & local climate action
On May 3, 2025, San Diegans will rally and march in downtown San Diego for climate action, for justice, and for a sustainable future.
Marchers will stand up to Trump’s efforts to rollback climate protections, boost fossil fuel extraction, illegally dismiss federal workers, and retract funding for renewable energy and climate projects. The march will offer a vision for a healthy and sustainable future, with clean air and water, and a just economy – with good-paying green jobs and putting people before polluters.
WHAT: demonstrators will rally, march in unity, and enjoy live music, organization info booths, inspiring speakers, face painting and more!
WHEN: Saturday, May 3, 2025. Org tables, kid zone and music begin 10:15. Program, including speakers and live music, 11am-12pm. March 12-1:30pm. Program info
WHERE: Starting on the west side of Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy, San Diego, CA, 92101and marching on a <2 mile route in downtown San Diego.
WHO: over sixty (60) local environmental, youth, social justice, labor, community, and faith-based groups. Speakers include: Sen. Catherine Blakespear (CA – 38), Brigette Browning, (Executive Secretary-Treasurer, San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council), Dr. Stanley Rodriguez (Director, Kumeyaay Community College & Member California Native American Heritage Commission), Yusef Miller (Co-Chair, Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice), Emma Weibel (Youth v. Oil/SanDiego350), Daniel Hernandez (Youth4Climate/SanDiego350) and David Fege (Former EPA employee).
WHY: From scorching wildfires to devastating floods, climate disasters are no longer distant threats – they are happening here and now. San Diego and California must stand up to Trump, and step up to rapidly advance clean energy and defend our democratic institutions. California legislators must pass a “Make Polluters Pay” bill (SB 684 and AB 1243) to hold fossil fuel companies financially accountable for the damage caused by their emissions.

SanDiego350 is building a movement to prevent the worst impacts of climate change and climate injustice through education and outreach, public policy advocacy, and mobilizing people to take action.

Too bad the protest didn’t include a ban against narrowing traffic lanes, creating stop and go idling congestion and negative air quality affects in communities and neighborhoods. Also too bad they didn’t include mandatory smogging of all residents who have vehicles registered in states that don’t smog. AND, the 139,000 vehicles the UT reported as crossing the Border every AM and again every PM, more than 3 days a week. Neither one of those groups contribute a cent to the wear and tear on the streets and roads in SD/CA. They don’t have to register in CA, but they can be mandated to have their vehicles smogged annually and a sticker put on their windshield or license plate. The Gov. of CA could fix these two issues, IF he wanted to and the Mayor could stop the traffic lane shrinking in SD, IF he wanted to. Create a noise where local politicians are held accountable.
