Effective Friday, May 1 everyone must wear face coverings whenever they are in public and expect to come within 6 feet of a non-household member. Face coverings provide a layer of protection that allows us all to stay safe from the spread of COVID-19.
All persons two years of age or older who are present in the County shall be in possession of a face covering when they leave their home or place of residence and shall wear it when they are in a business or within six feet of another person who is not a member of their family or household.
Persons with medical or mental health conditions, or a developmental disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering, shall be exempt from this requirement.
Remember that face coverings are different from medical-grade face masks; we highly recommend that the general public use fabric face coverings, and to donate any medical-grade face masks to local healthcare facilities. From Office of Supervisor Nathan Fletcher

Face masks are a whole new story. Almost everybody wears them around their necks. I do not see this as effective. But what happened to rubber gloves? They used to be a big deal for protection, now you don’t hear a word. Have we given up on rubber gloves as part of the solution? People working for some supermarkets do not seem to wear them.
Gloves make the problem worse. You still spread it but don’t just wash your own hands. Not effective against respiratory viruses like this. I wear my bandanna around my neck when I’m walking around and put it on when I go to a store. That seems fair. Otherwise, I sweat my butt off and I’m not an overweight person.
A friend of mine likened wearing a face mask below the chin to wearing a condom around the ball sack.
To be fair, as Michael mentioned sometimes people are going to lower them or take them off temporarily to get some air when not in close proximity to other people. In my case my glasses get fogged up, even when the mask is pinched around my nose and my glasses are on top of the mask.
If you haven’t already, check out Coronavirus Explained on Netflix. It’ll really show you how these things start and how they’re spread. This is not a new virus at all. Just found a way to get to humans. There are 1.5M potential viruses that could infect humans.
Believe it or not, this could (and will if we don’t take proactive action) be worse in the future. We actually god “lucky” with some of the mild effects.
This is unbelievable. Is there anything you are willing to do to save lives? You want to open everything, wear no protection because of a slight inconvenience or discomfort it might cause you? Rubber gloves do work if you take them off and toss them when you get home. You all should stop posting things that are your opinion, not facts. For Christ’s sake just once think about others instead of just yourself.
Yeah, I didn’t say anything like that. Sounds like you could use some sunshine:) The rule is to wear a mask when you’re within 6ft of someone else. When I go to the grocery store once every 10 days, all I see are people >50. Seems like they should do what I do, shop 3x a month. Here’s an idea: eat less. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting by eating 1-2 meals a day. No snacking.
The CDC doesn’t recommend gloves unless you’re a medical professional.
