U-T Copy Editor Seems to Have Been Celebrating 4/20 a Little Too Early

The Rag is not the only online publication that occasionally messes up headlines.

Look at this headline in today’s (April 20) Union-Tribune on their op-ed page. By the looks of it, apparently the U-T copy editor was celebrating 4/20 a little too early.

In the piece, two candidates for District 2 — Richard Bailey and Paul Suppa — had their responses to canned questions printed — yet the headline says “District 8.” Whoops. Hopefully, by Tuesday, headline will be corrected.

It’s okay. We occasionally tease our friends in the local media.

Goodness knows that we mess up too. (The Rag has many typos in our articles because our proofreader and copy editor are always on vacation.)

But it’s fun to do so when the other media platforms run on millions of dollars.

A former lawyer and current grassroots activist, I have been editing the Rag since Patty Jones and I launched it in Oct 2007. Way back during the Dinosaurs in 1970, I founded the original Ocean Beach People’s Rag - OB’s famous underground newspaper -, and then later during the early Eighties, published The Whole Damn Pie Shop, a progressive alternative to the Reader.
