Jesus Freaks On the Move in Ocean Beach or Signs of the Apocalypse?

in Ocean Beach

An observant OB Rag staff member has observed these signs that have appeared on Cable Street between Santa Monica and Newport.

Are they an indication of militant Jesus freaks on the move, or are they signs of the coming Apocalypse?

They are high enough that they had to be placed using a ladder or by someone standing on top of a vehicle.

Whatever they are, they’re quite annoying and add to the visual clutter around the village. OB has plenty of churches and we don’t need religious proselytizing on the telephone poles.

Somebody, please take them down.

Oh great pansexual mythical sky god creature save us from your ding dong followers.
Btw, how will Jesus be coming? Will he be wearing protection?

Everybody needs to chill. This sort of stuff is what keeps OB funky.

My all time favorite bumper sticker: “Jesus Is Coming! Look busy.”

I prefer non-fiction reading to fiction.

So why are you reading comments in the OBRag ? :-)

Just to explain. I muchly value the OBRag for the opportunity to see many points of view, and muchly respect EditorDude for trying to give all points of view a voice. Even if you don’t agree with Christians/Muslims/Progressives/Trumpsters/Racists/Whatever; I think there is value in seeing what they think. Even if only to “Know thine Enemy”. So for the folks that put up these signs, I would comment “More Power to you !” Keep voicing your convictions and let the people read, understand (hopefully), and form their own decisions.

We all have biases (sp?). I think we should all understand that, interpret facts as we will, and respect those who interpret differently. Some of those folks just might be correct.

I wonder how old you are, Lyle.

Me, I’ve been to more than a few county fairs. After a lifetime of keeping an open mind and listening to both sides, a person eventually decides which side makes sense. I no longer need to listen to religious fanatics to understand anything more than I’ve managed to learn in seven decades. That is not a bias, it is knowledge that comes from a lifetime of experiencing these folks.

And, I have never discouraged anyone from listening to any side of an argument. The people who do that, including religious fanatics, are the dangerous people. They think what they know is best for you. I would never presume to think that for anyone.

Old enough to do it again. I agree with your comment and also was quite moved by your article about Jane.

You know, I did not realize it was that old. Carmen “resurrected” it with her comment. I just have a hard time not reacting when I see these religious posts. And it is good to see Frank back on his feet posting away.
