Are the Planets in Alignment Causing Me to Be Out of Alignment?

I’m not usually a negative person.

I try to find something positive in even the worse situation, but for the past few weeks it seems that nothing is going right in my life.

Maybe it is because February, a month that used to hold romantic overtones is here, and there are none of those happenings going to occur.  No one on Valentine’s Day to send me a box of my favorite candy; in fact no one to send me a card.  OK – maybe I’ll receive one from my family, but that is not what I am talking about.

My birthday is also in February.  That in itself is a traumatic day for the obvious reasons, but my deceased husband Bob always tried to out do my birthday celebrations for him and it was fun waiting to see what he would do. (He never even came close to the naming of a horse race after him at Santa Anita and/or Los Alamitos; he never came close to chartering a boat from Lake Havasu to Laughlin for his birthday, but he always tried something.)

This year, while getting older, there will not be anyone to put his arms around me, hug me, and wish me a Happy Birthday.  No one to surprise me with a trip; a play, etc.

But it isn’t just the month of February that is getting to me.  It’s a combination of so many things.

So many stupid people are going to the fenced off area of Sunset Cliffs to watch Mother Nature take down the cliffs.  Do they stand behind the fencing? No! Of course not.  They climb over the barrier to get a better picture of the crack.  And they take their dogs with them – on and off leashes.  Won’t that be a cute photo of Fido falling down 30 feet of rock if the cliff gives way while they are there?

Then there is the lack of a grocery store in the vicinity.  I needed a quart of buttermilk.  No one had any. So I drove 6 miles – a total of 12 miles – for a quart of buttermilk.  Just think.  There still is no market where Fresh and Easy used to be. (Editor: CVS announced that they will not be moving into the Point Loma site.)

After the storm the other night I looked outside and saw that the glass globe on the streetlight was canted 90 degrees.  Wonder who might be walking under it when it gives way.  So I decided to call the street department to alert them to this.  I have to fill out a form – a form? – to report it because it is a “non-emergency”.  My answer – “walker beware.”  Don’t sit under the street light either.

And then there is the bus situation.  Why or why isn’t there a bus that runs later than 11:00 pm to Ocean Beach?  So one has to opt for a taxi if they don’t want to drive their car and pay the price of a parking lot.  Not much difference in price.  In fact, with a tip the taxi is higher.

Don’t get me started on the Chargers.  I WAS a fan; I never missed a game if I could help it.  But towards the end of my husband’s life I could no longer afford the price of a ticket.  I am a taxpayer living in San Diego City.  I have to pay so they can play here; so they can make money and I sit home wondering how they are doing.  Bull.  Let them go.  I’ll help them pack.  I’ll drive them. Just get them out of here.

I’m not finished yet –

Got my utilities bills this month.  My water bill was $319.75.  I’m conserving water. I haven’t had sprinklers on for 9 weeks.  My gas and electric bill was $226.04.  I have the disabled senior rate for this utility.  I turn off lights, computers, televisions, etc.  Yes, I did have the heater on but when I received the $323 bill from Cox I had a fit.  I was told that in order for the televisions to get any reception at all, I had to purchase these little mini-boxes.  The first one was free, and each one other than that one was $2.95 a month. That means I have three I am paying for.

But when they told me they would send me the boxes and I could install them myself I told them I was in a wheel chair and there was no way in hell that I could do the installation.  I was assured that they would send someone out to do the installation and not to worry.  Not to worry?  They CHARGED me for the installation.  And then one of the boxes was faulty and they charged another $75 to come out and fix the box.  (I did call Cox and did speak to a delightful woman who reversed all the charges, but only minutes before I had a massive apoplectic attack!)

I could go on for hours about Trump/Palin.  But I cannot compete with Tina Fey so I will not do so, except to say that one of my stupid friends – who will probably not recognize herself when she reads this – told me that if I really wanted to know what was going on in the world – a true accounting – I should stop watching Rachel Madow and start watching Fox News.  She told me that they have convinced her that Trump is the true Savior of the American world.

And finally, the last straw has to do with my on-line dating experiences.  Many of you that have followed me for the past 4 years know that I have tried a variety of the dating sites. My book is up to 14 chapters, and one day, someday, I hope, I will have the final chapter and everyone will live happily ever after.

But not yet.  Let me give you a brief synopsis of Chapter 15:  I began corresponding with “Glen” about 8 weeks ago.  His profile was gorgeous; 69 years old; has 42 year old twins – male and female – that live in San Diego.  He just sold his home in Albuquerque  and will be moving to San Diego on February 14th.  Wanted to know if we could meet on the 16th.  (You might remember that I have twin grandsons.)

When he asked me how far from San Diego I lived I began to be a little suspicious.  When I asked him where his twins lived he didn’t answer me the first time.  I asked him again later on and he told me “Hillcrest.”  OK – he had a name of some place.

I decided to send his picture – his beautiful muscular picture – to google image search to see if they had anything on him.  What came back was that the picture was of a Dr. Jeffrey Live.  In fact, Dr. Live is a renown  physician dealing with youthfulness.

I wrote to Glen and told him what I found and he wrote back to me saying, “I am Jeffrey Fine.”

So I decided to do some more calling and found a phone number for Dr. Fine in Los Angeles.  Unfortunately, he no longer practiced in LA.  But…the receptionist  thought he was in Las Vegas.  So I tried Las Vegas. I talked to a receptionist there and she said he was no longer there but in Virginia.

By now I am thinking that maybe Glen IS Dr. Fine.  The Las Vegas person told me that she didn’t have a phone number for him but sometimes his WIFE Annie called and she would tell her about my experience.  In the meantime I found his office in Virginia and spoke to another receptionist.  Dr. Fine is 77; is happily married to Annie; and Glen is an impostor!  I left my number with the receptionist but have not heard from anyone there.

The FBI is not interested because I am not a victim; no monies exchanged hands, etc.  They told me it was too bad I didn’t play along until the 16th to see what transpired then.  Yeah. Right.

So, gentle reader, the planets are moving away from each other; I paid $2.41 for gas at Ralphs today using my discount; Marty Block has dropped out of the race – damn – and maybe things will begin to right themselves again.

Thank goodness February is a short month!

To whom or what does one pray for these unfortunate situations to be resolved in a perceived wanted outcome??? Let me know if there is some devine intervention form the C/J God, Allah, Thor, Zues, Poseidon, Beelzebub, or other. Hope is one thing, wishful delusion quite another. Good luck Judi!

Dana, I think I’ll try a dance to the powers that be to see if I can change things. If it works I’ll let you know.

Just curious – anyone else tired of the LT commercials for ASI? I think my entire heating and ventilating systems could break down and ASI would be the last ones I call. Too bad that LT had to become a spokesman for them. Stupid commercials; a let down of my feelings for LT.

And….Manning and his commercials are really no better either. These guys aren’t making enough money without resorting to commercialism? Yuck.

Very interesting and fun read as usual.
Hang in there, and I know you’ll keep us informed about how things are going. You
at least have a new meetup site to look into.
We can’t believe your monthly utilities bill.
Now get to the powers that be so we can get an update as to how they worked out.
