Sign the Petition in Support of the Ocean Beach Library Expansion

The Friends of the Ocean Beach Library are circulating a petition these days in support of the expansion of the OB branch. It states:

“We support the expansion of the Ocean Beach Branch Library from the current 4,000-square foot size to a modernized 15,000-square-foot facility that retains the historic core.”

It ends with an appeal to the mayor and City Council:

“We urge the Mayor and Council to support this top community priority as reflected in the Public Facilities Financing Plan. The 100th anniversary of the Ocean Beach Library will occur in 2016 and the time has come to bring the Ocean Beach Branch Library into the 21st century.”

Here is the Petition. Please download it or print it out, sign it and circulate among family and friends. Then return it to the OB Library at 4801 Santa Monica Avenue in OB and hand to either staff or committee members.

OB Library Petition Exp Jan 2015

A former lawyer and current grassroots activist, I have been editing the Rag since Patty Jones and I launched it in Oct 2007. Way back during the Dinosaurs in 1970, I founded the original Ocean Beach People’s Rag - OB’s famous underground newspaper -, and then later during the early Eighties, published The Whole Damn Pie Shop, a progressive alternative to the Reader.

  1. There is no deadline at this point in time. However, we would like to get high numbers in the near future to bolster our assertion that the OB community supports the expansion.
Thanks for your help and support!

  2. Is there any local businesses that have this petition available to sign? How about the library on Voltaire St., I think that would be good place to get signatures as well.
