It may be one of the most important town hall meetings for Ocean Beach in recent memory.  It’s all on the brand new draft community plan for OB – a document that will decide the next 30 years of Ocean Beach. And it’s this Wednesday night – November 13th – at the Masonic Center.

The OB Planning Board is hosting a “Town Hall for Public Comment” on the new draft Community Plan for the community. The Board will be there as well as city staff to listen to the public on any and all aspects of the draft plan that has been in the works for over a decade now.

This is what Board Chair Tom Gawronski states in his public agenda:

The Ocean Beach Planning Board is seeking input on the OB Community Plan. Interested individuals should be prepared to give statements on what changes they would like to see to the Final Plan. The  OB Planning Board will take into consideration suggested changes at their next general meeting on  December 4th, 2013

This important village get together begins at 6pm inside the large downstairs hall at the Masonic Center, located at 1711 Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, with the cross-street of Santa Cruz Avenue.

The OBPB says – and we agree – that: “This will be a great opportunity to give public comment directly to the Planning Board and City Staff.”

Since the Board will take up the comments, suggestions, and changes requested at their next monthly meeting on December 4th, it is very unlikely that there will be any Board action Wednesday night. Instead, it will be a night of listening by board members and professional staffers employed by the City of San Diego.

For How to Access the Community Plan:

The Community Plan, Environmental Impact Report, and Financing Plan went public Friday the 5th of October.

You can find a hard copy at the OB Library, and digital copy on the OB Planning Board web site; : http://oceanbeachplanning.org/resources/communityplan

or the City’s Web site http://www.sandiego.gov/planning/community/profiles/oceanbeach/.

Please forward all public comments to Theresa Millette at TMillette@sandiego.gov. You can submit to the OBPB web site and the Planning Board will make sure Theresa gets the comments.

if you care, then be there…
many of our public officials are really very interested in hearing the opinions of regular people, NOT the same old lawyers and lobbyists from the developers and businesses who always show up and push their agendas at the town meetings…
my mom, who founded a couple of parks along our coast, (back in the 70’s) told me that sometimes she was the only outside person at coastal commission meetings, and, well, they listened to her because she was there, and she cared….

I cannot be at the meeting tonight….I would like the usage of leaf blowers to be banned in OB. Good information can be found here:
