Attempted Robbery at OB’s Cesarina — Suspect Arrested

There was an armed robbery attempt at one of OB’s high-end restaurants Saturday night, May 3. Apparently, the robbery at Cesarina was unsuccessful and no one was hurt. Here’s how the restaurant described the event on Instagram:

On Saturday evening, around 10:30 p.m. as we were closing, something unimaginable happened. An armed individual entered our restaurant and demanded money before fleeing.

We are beyond grateful for the immediate and effective response of the San Diego Police Department, who apprehended the suspect shortly after. Most importantly, we are overwhelmingly relieved to share that no one was harmed during this terrifying incident.

It’s hard to put into words how absurd and unexpected this was, not only for those present but for our entire Cesarina family. While the experience was deeply unsettling, we want to be clear: we will not let fear prevent us from doing what we love most – taking care of each other and our incredible community through delicious food and love.

We will remain vigilant and continue to take every necessary measure to ensure Cesarina remains a safe and welcoming space for our team, our community, and every single person who walks through our doors.? Thank you for your unwavering support.

Fox5 San Diego reported:

Video of the incident uploaded to the crowd-sourced neighborhood safety app, Citizen, [which the Rag couldn’t open] appeared to show a number of patrons running from the entry, seemingly responding to the suspect brandishing a weapon. However, the restaurant said no one was injured in the incident. …

Regarded for its house-made pasta and inviting ambiance, the hotspot has received national accolades from a number of publications, most notably earning Bib Gourmand status in the coveted Michelin Guide in 2021. [Fox5 also stated that the restaurant is located in Point Loma — let the record show that it is only technically, but it really is in Ocean Beach.]
