New Ice Cream Shop Coming to Ocean Beach this Spring

A La Jolla-based ice cream shop is coming to Ocean Beach and plans to open this spring right next to the Ocean Beach Playhouse at 4944 Newport.

Scoops Ice Cream Shop will be expanding its presence in San Diego with the opening of its third location.

According to SanDiegoVille:

Since launching in La Jolla Shores in 2018, Scoops has built a loyal following for its handcrafted ice cream, crepes, and other sweet treats. Known for offering both dairy and vegan ice cream flavors sourced from Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, the shop has become a go-to spot for high-quality, all-natural frozen desserts.

Over the years, Scoops has expanded its menu to include a variety of shakes, smoothies, acai bowls, and locally made pastries, all served in a welcoming, beachside setting. Last year, the area second Scoops location opened on Prospect Street in La Jolla Village.

The new OB shop “will continue Scoops’ tradition of serving premium ice cream and an expanded selection of treats. Guests can expect the same mix of classic and creative flavors, along with made-to-order crepes, espresso drinks, and more.” For more information, visit scoopslajolla.com.

  1. I know that I am becoming an old man, but $6 for a scoop of ice cream ?
When really decent ice cream is available at groceries for $4 for 1.5 quarts (12 scoops).
Yep, becoming an old man, I guess.

  2. Anyone that buys this ice cream should never complain about the “state of the economy being bad”. Chris and Gilbert …. CVS, Rite Aid, Krisp, Peoples, Stumps, Jensens, Grocery Outlet and local corner stores carry ice cream, toppings, nuts, whip cream, fruit all great options.

  3. Our old standby, Lighthouse, should be opening soon after over a year of Insurance/permit/timing hassles. I can’t wait for their return.
