Activists Urge Opponents of Famosa Canyon Development in Point Loma to Stand Up One Last Time — Today, Tuesday, Dec.17

On Tuesday December 17th, the San Diego City Council — sitting as the Housing Authority (SDHA)–  is set to approve development of the Famosa Canyon with construction starting in 2027!

The meeting begins at 2 PM and opponents of the project say this will be the ONLY and LAST chance to have their voices heard on the proposed development.

The meeting will take place at the 12th floor of the City Administration building, 202 C Street, San Diego, CA, 92101.

They want as many people as possible to either show up in person or call in and TAKE THIS FINAL OPPORTUNITY to let your voice be heard on the proposed development of the Famosa Canyon before it’s too late!

Famosa Canyon is agenda item #2.

  1. Over and over again, Penisula residents and the PL Communty Planning Board have opposed the Falmosa Canyon Development for a multitude of good reasons: Flooding from uphill (almost all the water flows into that area). Pollution from the will flow into Falmoa Slough. This was originally to be parkland. The list goes on! It is a bad place to build.

  2. Say bye bye to more of our open space.

    From the News7 article:
“The San Diego Housing Authority approved the sale of a vacant lot in Point Loma to build more than 70 affordable housing units.”

I will be very curious to see how many of these 70 units will actually be affordable.

  3. This is so sad. Again, it feels like the actual residents get no say in how what we want for our neighborhood. I hope this gets fought.

A big complex off Nimitz is not going to be safe. There’s been those 3 major accidents on that stretch in the last 2 weeks alone. Can you imagine cars slowing to turn into the complex?

I also don’t understand how ‘the Housing Authority’ is just all the members of the city council. Like, how is that not a conflict?
