In Response to Claims Against the San Diego Housing Commission of Illegal Rent Hikes, Misused Funds and Lack of Transparency
To: The San Diego Housing Commission
From: The San Diego City Council
This is exactly why we advocated for giving Lisa Jones, the CEO of the San Diego Housing Commission a pay raise by the San Diego City Council pushing her salary + benefits to around $372,500 annually plus an additional $5,000 to “right size” her compensation.
We just love this quote: “We are the eighth largest city in this country, and the things we are asking [Jones] to do come with increasing complexity,” Kent Lee said. “We need to compensate folks appropriately or we are going to feel the consequences.”
And on top of illegal rent increases, Lisa led the agency in concentrating poverty and cost the City $650,000 to settle the Baker vs. San Diego lawsuit last year.
Keep doing your great work Lisa, you sure do earn that $377,500 serving our most vulnerable families. We think we should pay you even more.
Love,
The City Council – except for Marni and Raul who sadly didn’t recognize the great work you’ve been doing for us and didn’t vote for your pay raise.
