  1. An agenda item number is needed to submit a comment. Please, if anyone knows the number put it in comments here so we can use it.

  2. I absolutely think the Sports Arena area is appropriate for dense housing over the existing height limit. No one is talking about expanding that to the coast. It provides better opportunities for affordable housing, and more density that will lend itself better to public transportation. The Sports Arena area is already packed with concrete; it’s not like this was going to be returned to the Mission Bay ecosystem.

    1. Actually, the city is talking exactly about expanding dense housing to the coast: look at the zoning map on page 299, Figure 4.1-1 Area B here, https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/final_peir_for_complete_communities_housing_solutions_and_mobility_choices.pdf.

Almost all of Ocean Beach is being re-designated as a “Housing Program Eligible Area,” “Mobility Choice Program Improvement Area,” and a “Transit Priority Area” under the new Complete Communities scheme written about here, https://obrag.org/2020/06/ocean-beach-planning-board-to-review-mayors-controversial-complete-communities-proposal/

The developers and their hires are hoping you’ll think the two proposals are separate, so they can kettle opposition into a cul-de-sac. If they succeed, then in the near future any objections made by the OB and other Community Planning Groups will be dismissed out of hand as being superseded by this new reality.
