Taylor Winston Is OB’s Hero of the Las Vegas Massacre

Staff  October 4, 2017  2 Comments on Taylor Winston Is OB’s Hero of the Las Vegas Massacre

The name “Taylor Winston” might as become a household name in Ocean Beach, for he was one of the heroes at the mass shooting at the Las Vegas country music concert Sunday night. He’s been all over the local news – and rightly so – for Taylor, a former Marine, and a friend drove up to 30 critically injured victims to a hospital.

Winston – in the middle of the carnage – “borrowed” a work truck parked with its keys nearby, loaded critical victims he could find, and drove to the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center. He was doing this before ambulances arrived. Here is what he told

Notions of Love Rising Out of the Darkness in Las Vegas

I just left Vegas a few days ago, with very fresh memories of how loud and all aglow it was, which makes it particulary difficult for me, in these moments, to fathom a man mowing down people who are having a good time as though they were foes on a battlefield.

Such a tragedy tears at your heart and it came at a time when we Americans are already suffering as we seem to be spinning aimlessly away from embracing each other as fellow citizens.

By John Thickstun, Esq.

In February 2016, Senator Dianne Feinstein received a letter from a concerned San Diego resident about the growing number of short term vacation rentals in her neighborhood.

Senator Dianne Feinstein replied:

I believe that the growth of short term vacation rentals will also cause the already high cost of living to further increase and exacerbate the shortage of affordable housing, as homeowners and renters will leave their units to rent them out to hotel users.

Areas with dead trees at Dusty Rhodes Park have been cleared of them. And the stumps were removed as well. This was a two phase process, with separate equipment required for stump removal, according to Monica Honore, the area manager for Parks and Rec.

Some of the changes we see happening at Dusty Rhodes Park are occurring because the City is currently maintaining the park. The contract with Aztec Landscaping wrapped up at the end of June 2017, and City staff have now been taking care of the park.
