Support the OB Rag in the Time of Trump – We’re Half Way to Our Goal!

Now’s the time to support your local and independent press – the OB Rag – the online newspaper for Ocean Beach and Point Loma. Especially these days in the Time of Trump.

Trump has called the free press, “the enemy of the people.” So, now is when the people – our readers – need to respond.

We’re half way to our summer fundraising goal of $1,000 – we’ve received $520 up to now from supporters and readers since Friday when we started this campaign. Help us to achieve the remainder this week.

Back in the old days, during the 1970s when the OB Rag was an actual paper newspaper, the staff would leave stacks of the folded issues on counters in storefronts and businesses across OB, and on top of each stack was a large coffee can with a sign for donations. And no one would touch the contents of those cans. In large measure, that’s how the OB Rag survived in those days – through contributions from residents and businesses of the community.

Likewise today, the online OB Rag – now in our 10th year – has survived on donations from our readers, supporters and businesses who take out ads.

It’s how we roll.

So, we’re asking our friends to step up and help us with contributions in order to cover our costs.

The original OB Rag was first published in the fall of 1970 – and we’re still here 47 years later – okay there’s been some gaps – but with your help, we’d like to be around another 47 years.
