Community Coalition Bulletin: This Week at City Hall Oct. 5–9, 2026

By Staff

The San Diego Community Coalition publishes this email bulletin to keep our members and the San Diego public informed about important Council hearings and other city public meetings.

Monday, October 5: City Council, 2:00 p.m.

Agenda:

Item S400: 11370 Paymogo Court, Appeal of the Environmental Determination

Why it matters: As the project map shows, construction of a 2,653-square-foot three-level single family home would carve into a heavily wooded area, wiping out trees and wildlife habitat. It’s hard to see how such environmental destruction is justified.

Tuesday, October 6: City Council, 2:00 p.m.

Agenda:

Item 330: Public Hearing to Proposed Adjustments to Water Rates

Why it matters: Water rate increases have become a tangled web of short-term hikes that stack up over time. And a court decision has ordered the city to enact “updated fixed charges for all customers,” which could weaken incentives for conservation. Background here.

Wednesday, October 7: Audit Committee, 9:00 a.m.

Agenda:

Item 3: Office of the City Auditor’s Recommendation Follow-Up Report

Why it matters: This 233-page report is a depressing read. It starts by noting that 107 of 184 “audit recommendations” are “In Process, Past Due.” Four of seven recommendations for brush management on city land are “past due,” as are six of ten recommendations for Development Services code enforcement.

Thursday, October 8: Land Use and Housing Committee, 1:00 p.m.

Adjournment:  Chair Kent Lee plans to hold a Special LU&H Committee meeting on Friday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. The City will likely present lease terms and environmental reports for the highly controversial Midway Rising project.

In-person: Council, 202 C St.
