May 2nd. Saturday 1 pm Exposing “Humane” Washing Event by Direct Action Everywhere San Diego 510 W Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103-1934, Location: meet in front of the Wells Fargo next to Lazy Acres grocery store in Hillcrest. In 2025, animal cruelty investigators uncovered an illegal mass grave of mother and baby goats at a “Certified Humane” Meyenberg goat dairy in Stratford, CA, the largest goat milk producer in the U.S. Necropsy reports indicated many animals were likely dying from disease and starvation.
Inside the facility, investigators rescued two sick baby goats, Phoebe and Celia, ensuring they received urgent medical care. Instead of holding the company accountable, authorities are now pursuing multiple felony charges against the rescuers, while the cruelty continues. Join us as we take a stand against animal cruelty and corporate “humane” washing. Together, we’ll call attention to the truth behind this industry and demand accountability. May 4th Monday 12 pm – 5 pm Uncounted California Event by Racial Justice Coalition and Policy Pathway Center on Policy Initiative 2820 Camino del Rio. San Diego San Diego County has one of the highest jail death rates in the state? And it wasn’t until very recently that CLERB (the accountability board that audits and investigates the sheriff and jails) had authority to investigate medical personnel involvement in the jails after a death This event will bring together scholars, students, practitioners, and community leaders for a timely and thought-provoking conversation at the intersection of research, public policy, and social equity. Uncounted California highlights critical gaps in data representation and policy that shape inequities across the Commonwealth. The Coroner’s Silence by Dr. Keel extends this conversation by examining the systemic structures the obscure truth, accountability, and justice. Together, these works challenge us to consider how institutions collect, interpret, and act upon information and what it means when communities remain unseen and unheard. Annual worldwide event to protest the captivity of all the animals held as prisoners at Sea World. All ages are welcome for this event. Feel free to get creative and bring a sign. Materials will be provided. Sea World is still promoting the BIG LIE that all the captive animals are happy at Sea World. Captivity is inherently cruel. The animals are not happy. Orcas and dolphins are still being forced to perform. It is time to remind Sea World, they need to stop using animals and to send the animals to seaside sanctuaries. Corky is the oldest and longest help captive orca ever recorded. She has been held a captive prisoner at Sea World San Diego since 1987 after she was moved from Marineland. She has lost all seven of her calves, most never lived beyond a few weeks.
