Three People Elected to OB Planning Board

Three OBceans were just elected in March to the OB Planning Board.

There were Tracy Dezenzo, Greg Diamond, and John Phillips. Here are their bios from the OB Planning Board website:

Tracy Dezenzo

Tracy Dezenzo has been an OB Planning Board Member since September 2018, has been a renter/resident in the OB “war zone” for over 25 years. She lives with her husband Bill, who volunteers as the OB Holiday Santa, and her aloof rescue pup Gia, who has zero impulse control but nevertheless is a good doggo.

She served as Commissioner on the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture from December 2019 to September 2024 and served on the Board of Directors of the Ocean Beach Town Council from September 2021-January 2024 as Chair of the Advocacy Committee for 2 1/2 years and Corresponding Secretary for 9 months.

Tracy holds a BA in Fine Art from UC San Diego and a BS in Graphic Design & Marketing from the Art Institute. She is an award-winning graphic designer who worked in the industry for over two decades, as well as working as a graphic design instructor for almost ten years. She currently works as a teaching assistant at Deaf Community Services helping to Deaf adults learn English and math.

Greg Diamond

After growing up in Milwaukee, I went to college at the University of Wisconsin where I got a degree in Computer Science. While living in Madison I developed a strong affinity for the city’s urban, walkable neighborhoods and educated hippie vibe. After school I set out for sunny San Diego and quickly fell in love with OB for many of the same reasons.

I just passed 15 years as an OBecian, now running a business and owning a home in the neighborhood where I live with my girlfriend and pup. I joined the board in December 2025 as a way to fuel my passion for OB into helping to shape it’s future.

John Phillips

I serve on the Ocean Beach Planning Board because I love Ocean Beach and want to help keep it the place so many of us value. OB has a character and community spirit that’s hard to describe but easy to feel, and I’d like to do my part to help protect that as our neighborhood changes over time.

I believe good decisions come from listening to neighbors and focusing on what’s best for the community. I come in open-minded, ready to listen, and committed to finding practical solutions that balance progress with preserving what makes Ocean Beach unique for every resident here.

For me, this is about giving back to a community I care about. I’d be grateful for the opportunity to serve and help maintain the character, livability, and local spirit that make Ocean Beach feel like home, while also supporting planning that protects affordability and ensures the people who call OB home can continue to do so as long as they please

  1. I rather regret selling my little home on Ebers Street and leaving OB and moving back near my son ain Missour, although I have the sunshine of being around my son a lot more often. I really miss Ocean Beach terribly.
Is Frank Gromlie still with the OBRag? I actually miss seeing you at the Planning Board meetings & socially. Hi! Linda

    1. Hi Linda, yes I’m still with the Rag, posting M thru Friday unless there’s a war of somebody killed by ICE. How are you? Where in Missouri?
