Trump and his cadre of sycophants plus the rest of the republicans annd their policies are doing everything they can to make the democrats successful in the mid-terms. But at the same time Trump will do everything he can to stop the midterms from happening at all. This will be the most precarious time for our democracy.
Can’t argue with that, Gary. I think the message that by hook and crook are sending is that if you’re putting all your coin into the mid-terms, you may be missing the big picture.
I too, agree with Gary, and thank you Frank for clearing that up. I wasn’t sure about the message, except that it was sort of disturbing. The question I haven’t heard in a while is, are we in a constitutional crisis yet? Is that because it’s a dumb question? The courts have ruled against this administration some 4,000 times, yet still, they continue to break the law.
As to the mid-term elections (if we have them) they could bring us back to normal. That’s what happened in Brazil and South Korea. Is our democracy less resilient than theirs? But Gary is right, Trump will do everything he can to stop the election. He will probably issue an executive order to stop the election or he may declare Marshall law. The question is, who will go along with him, the Supreme Court? Congress? the military? any of those could stop him, but will they? Gary is right about this too, it’s precarious.
