  1. Hey Hook and Crook.
Who is scared of insisting on presenting proof of American citizenship to vote. I believe only tax paying Americans should vote for how our taxes are spent.

    1. What taxes would those be? Federal Income taxes? State Income Taxes? Sales Taxes?

What if you don’t pay incomes taxes because your income is too low after the Standard Deduction? Can’t vote?

    2. Don’t succumb to the lies and fear mongering that non-citizens cast votes in any numbers or coordination that would make any difference. It’s hogwash voter suppression tactics. Also, most non US citizens DO pay taxes without the privilege of getting to cast a vote on “how our taxes are spent.”

  2. Todd South OB:

Sounds like you have paid very little attention to the reality of so-called ‘voter fraud.’ Do you even know any of the history of how that boogieman has been used even in the recent elections or in years past?

The very few instances of recent attempts have been by…wait for it…Trump voters! Like the guy who voted his dead mother’s ballot along with his own by forging her signature. Is he in prison now? Nope.

Or how about a rather infamous republican political pundit who was registered to vote in two different states? Though to be fair she does own homes in both… Then there was that hanky-panky in Florida where people released from prison were SENT voter registration cards… and then arrested live on camera when the election came around. That made the Republican party look rather…bad, ya know?

Now we have Trump’s stupid ‘SAVE Act’ that makes illegal something ALREADY ILLEGAL, but this time to make it even more insipid it will take married women’s vote away from them for changing their names to their husband’s…and NOT allow marriage certificates to be considered proof of who you are!

As republicans have said over and over again, they do NOT WANT everybody to vote, or if they do vote they don’t want those ballots to count. They admit that they will lose elections if that happens!! That’s why gerrymandering is so hyped in Republican states, why the GOP hates mail-in ballots, why they love to throw out ‘provisional’ ballots, why right-wing militias line up to ‘guard’ the polling booths trying to intimidate anyone they don’t like the look of (shades of the KKK!), and why DJT wants to cancel this coming election. They only want to make voting harder while their rightwing billionaire funders pour PAC cash and ‘Dark Money’ into candidates everywhere.

It sure does seem like the wealthy does NOT want ‘free and fair elections’ at all in this country.

Here’s a couple of articles for you to read, dude:

Data indicates voting by noncitizens is rare. Republicans are pressing measures to make sure of it

Here is some history for you Todd South OB that may help you understand:

Is “Voter Fraud” the Most Dangerous Political Lie in American History?
Why does a lie that has never been proven, never worked, and never been real still hold the power to undermine an entire democracy?

    About the SAVE Act:
Millions of Americans Don’t Have Documents Proving Their Citizenship Readily Available

Requiring Americans to prove their citizenship to register to vote would exclude millions of citizens from the political process.

  3. For everyone replying here, If you were asked to prove your citizenship, how would you do it? MY ANSWER: I don’t know.

    1. Any documents required to obtain a Passport… and maybe that nonsense Real ID.
When working south of the border, we stood in line with documents to get a work visa at the Mexican Consulate. And then I paid income tax for that work performed in Mexico.
