  1. We need to keep San Diego from becoming another LAX/SFO/MSP. To do so, we need to start by recalling Mayor Gloria from office, or defeat him at the polls at the next election. During the last 35+ years that we have lived in “America’s finest city”, we have seen this beautiful place slowly overcome by crime, illegal immigrants, homelessness, Druggies, and people with little or no moral character.

  2. If repealing the trash fees is going to be on the November ballot the backers need to thoroughly research outsourcing. How, when, who, how much. You can bet the opponents of repeal will use all the scare tactics they can to defeat the measure. Closures, cutbacks, potholes, etc. maybe even city bankruptcy? Repeal needs to be a solution, not punishment.

    1. The opponents have already lost their best chance to stop the repeal, which would have been to roll back the fees to the ballot-measure figures. Sure, they’d only get $70 million/yr. instead of $140 million but now they’re going to get $0, and lose every sales-tax ballot measure they dare try for the next five years.

    2. Well, there might be a template when energy deregulation failed previously. Second, then you have to rely on the city powers at be to do thew right thing. A trash alternative requires additional staff and equipment to absorb the additional need. Would the city sell off assets? Kind of the same when Tom Steyer talks about energy competition, but the road to get there is potholes due to Cali politics in not keeping utilities under check.
