Oh, as I looked back at pictures
of the “No Kings” protesters
in San Diego
I so wished that I could take to the streets
as I’ve done so many times before
over my lifetime
but standing and walking
for a longtime
would not treat me very kind.
But it’s plain to see
that this kind of massive togetherness
is the key
to our surviving the mess
we find ourselves in,|
chaos brought to us
by a madman
whose goal in life
is to do us in
at a time in human history
when the fate of human civilization
teeters like a baby
taking its first steps,
reeling from what a noted researcher, Brene Brown, says
is the convergence of tech
which isn’t just changing how we work or live
but also changing what it means to be human,
systems that can reprogram biology,
reshape matter at the atomic level,
and process information in ways that defy classical physics
while, simultaneously,
influential billionaires
decide
what we talk about,
what ideas flourish
or die on the vine,
leaving us to, in confused states of mind,
confront each other blindly,
distracting us from reality,
while they absorb what’s left of our shrinking
resources that allow us to
function effectively,
causing our democracy
to flutter aimlessly
in the currents of the winds
of negative change.
So, rather than standby
voiceless
and powerless
we’d best
continue the rallying
often and steadily,
in a spirit of togetherness,
to prevent there ever being
a king on our watch,
taking our protesting,
considering that we’re at war,
even up a notch.
Remembering that,
although it might not appear that we are,
we’re winning
because we’re acting out of love,
a powerful motivating energy,
and our enemy is not.

You nailed it again, Ernie. Thank you. Keep writing. You are a light in the dark world.
