I’m a fan. Why does everything here have to get shat on? I’m thinking despite the extra bulk, that part is pretty far from shore, and the new railings should be much less obstructive than the current pier. So it shouldn’t be too obtrusive on the horizon. I can’t wait to use those long ramps, because I’ll probably be in a wheelchair by the time it’s completed.
When the mayor wants to spend like a drunken sailor with money we don’t have and the answer is higher taxes? That homeless shelter isn’t 1.9m in rent for 35 yrs. It’s 1.9m + 3% annually. These little details keep getting exposed and I’ve had enough of Todd. Adding debt to the public isn’t the answer.
I think it looked pretty good, too, and this video was helpful. To save cost they might consider deleting the “flyover” ramp—it’s an interesting feature to be sure, but to me it doesn’t add much.
Just imagine the reality. Many unhoused folks spreading their belongs out on all the surfaces. These extra bridges can be eliminated to keep costs down. This is Ocean Beach not La Jolla.

Brought to you by Todd’s cartoon network.
Get this pier, all for only $199.95 (million). Earl Scheib voice impersonated.

Ditch that second level, reduce the cost.

I went to the design presentation. The “flyover” ramp can be used by emergency vehicles when the pier filled with people.
An ambitious, visionary, intelligent and healthy project.
