An OBcean went off the rails on Tuesday at a San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting, as a group of anti-vaxxers criticized the Board for their vaccine mandates during public comment. Here’s a brief Daily Beast report.

A San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting descended into chaos Tuesday, August 17 as anti-vaccine activists gathered to make their opinions on vaccine mandates known.
According to local conservative outlet KUSI, several groups—ReOpen San Diego, Let Them Breathe, and San Diego Rise Up — gathered outside to protest and inside to give speeches demanding that the board bar employers and businesses from requiring proof of vaccination for employment or services.
An OBcean named Matt Baker invoked both “the wind of time”—he was whistling into the microphone—and the Nuremberg Codes in angry arguments that left him red-faced.
Baker said to the board of supervisors,
“You are about to open a pit of hell. You do not get a vaccine passport put on us. You know as the population who’s in control, you know as politicians—once you get a power, you never relinquish it. Do you think that the four feet of marble that holds you above in this chamber will help you from the fate of humanity which you are unleashing? No! It won’t! Your children and your children’s children will be subjugated! They will be asked, ‘How many vaccines have you had? Have you been a good little Nazi? Heil Fauci! Heil Fauci! Heil Fauci!’”
He then held up a copy of the Nuremberg Codes, accusing the supervisors of being in violation of international human rights law.

I would normally laugh something like this off, but after seeing our alternate reality unfurl on January 6th, I wonder how much damage people with these unhinged ideas can do. I am indeed worried about where this country is headed and what the future holds for our children. These are bleak times indeed.
People like that can do a lot of damage and yes we ARE in bleak times but I still need humor to get through it.

Well this got interesting real fast. I expressed support for Nathan Fletcher’s rant on the KUSI FB page knowing it would trigger a few people and boy howdy did it. I deleted the post because there were some actual threats. One women expressed that she doesn’t sleep well at nights because people like are out and around in her presence and goes to counseling because of it lol. I actually sort of pity people like that.

In a tweet, Dr. Christian Ramers, a well-known pro-vaccination voice said, in part, “Listening to the cultish, misinformed, culture rants was exhausting and infuriating to us trying to get us out of this mess.”
Other doctors called the comments hurtful for families devastated by the virus and pointed to the toll COVID-19 continues to take.
The comments at Tuesday’s meeting came moments after the county reported 1,738 new cases in San Diego, the highest count since January as the Delta variant of the disease continues its rapid spread. The OB guy did nothing more than a disservice to himself- nobody listens to somebody who just yells- that method is bound to fail in trying to get one’s point across….you know, if you don’t have anything of substance to say, just yell…sort of like Jim Jordan, lol.
But I did listen to about 15 min of comments to the Board of Supervisors from people against masks, vax passports, vaccines, any emergency situation, etc etc in an attempt to try and understand where these folks are coming from. Honestly? I just don’t get it. They don’t believe there’s a pandemic, don’t believe masks inhibit the spread, don’t believe the vacs are safe, don’t believe an urgent situation is afoot…its all hunh?!
Ok, so they don’t believe any of it. So be it. But what’s the win? This is the part I just don’t get. Freedom? Freedom to what? Freedom to force ignorance on others? They just seem like very selfish, spoiled, blinkered 1st worlders. This is a global problem, how can they not realize that? Anyway, guess I’m done trying to understand. Sort of wish I could reclaim that 15 minutes and donate it to someone who is vaxed and now dealing with covid anyway. :(
What’s funny is, to look at Matt Baker you would think he is the stereotypical OB hippie and therefore be a very left leaning individual. Perhaps he is in other regards or he just sort of all over the map.

It’s like the woman in town last week who was screeching about ‘body freedom’ when I remarked to her (from behind my N95) that she must be for women’s freedom of choice with abortion…you know, body freedom? And she went off ‘I’m pro-life’ so I said she must be anti-war and anti-capital punishment and off she went again in another direction.
Hmmmm. Not much logic to all this screeching at all.
Another ‘it’s all a hoax’ paternal relative died in Iowa. First I know of from the Delta variant. She was 20 years younger than me. 16 known dead on my list now… And COVID marches on.

And I’m somehow feeling that his words of “The wind that is blowing through the Black people, through the white people, through the Chinese people, through the Mexican Americans to the people that built this building with their bare hands to raise up this nation.” did not make this LA protest gathering’s sponsors too happy to hear because, after all, they don’t LIKE the Black people, the Chinese people, the Mexican Americans in the US population whatsoever. As a matter of fact, they tend to react with more than just a little hostility when confronted with their own racism. I mean, really dude, you could just really piss them off putting ‘white people’ in that list.

In my NE Washington State county 10% (1 out of 10 people!) has gone down with Delta in August/Sept to mid-October. The current two weeks count is unknown until I read this week’s local weekly paper on Monday but with the ‘Rocktober Music Festival’ in the city park that was advertised in the Oct. 14 edition for the following weekend with multiple bands/food booths/vendors, and with a 37.2% county vaccination rate and the majority of people obviously NOT wearing masks including employees of the Post Office, I’m guessing that the numbers will have spiked upwards.
And today the town is holding Boo-Fest for the children to trick or treat local businesses. Unvaxxed maskless children and their 62.3% unvaxxed maskless parents in large crowds on narrow sidewalks all at the same time…what could possibly go wrong? Excepting of course the local jr/senior high school had 65 kids in quarantine with 6 volleyball team girls sick…oops. So much for the ‘Mothers Against Masks in Schools’ protest on Aug 16th.
Anybody else see that hilarious woman’s FB post who is suspicious and asking about why is Covid “suddenly targeting those who has refused to get the gov’ment jab?”
I spit tea out my nose on that one! I mean, you can’t make this s**t up! Stupidity kills…just not fast enough I guess but our death rate AND infection rate set new records.
