This list is really misleading and left off a number of major food-oriented and other businesses, especially those in the commercial strip between Newport Avenue and Narragansett. Also, I’m wondering why the author of the list added editorial comments only favor of the Quickstops, when a list like this should be absolutely impartial. At some point in the future, the most important business on this block may be the Beardsley Mitchell Funeral Home, but I digress. My additions are:

HUGO’S (formerly Ranchos): OPEN for take-out only.
THE CLIFFS CAFE (formerly Newbreak): OPEN
THAI TIME BISTRO: OPEN for take-out only.
RITEAID: Slight change in hours. (Closes 11 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays for restocking.)
O.B DONUTS: CLOSED until the situation improves.
O.B. HAIR AND NAILS: CLOSED until April 1st)
SUNSET CLIFFS DENTAL (Dr. Annalise Hilliard): OPEN BY APPOINTMENT for “true dental emergencies” only.

“Really misleading?” C’mon Mark Elliot Lugo, do you have to be such a cup half empty person? Mr. Huber compiled a really helpful list of 50 places that were open at that moment in time and the OB RAG shared that list. Could you just say “Thanks”? You added info about 7 places which was a nice thing and is appreciated. As to the “editorial comments” added by Mr. Huber, some people might not realize that those two quick marts also offer prepared food so what’s the harm in sharing that info?

I stand by my observations.

Again, the OB Rag does not have the resources to independently check each of these businesses out. If anyone would like to make a correction or make an addition, please do so in the comments.

From CBS: The first night under San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s executive order to close bars and restrict restaurants during the coronavirus pandemic was Tuesday night, on St. Patrick’s Day – one of the biggest party nights of the year.

News 8 has received calls about business violating the order, but bars and restaurants complied. San Diego police officers were out doing compliance checks in Paific Beach, Ocean Beach, North Park, and Gaslamp Quarter. Officers said it’s mostly educational purposes. https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/san-diego-enforcing-bar-and-restaurant-orders-on-st-patricks-day/509-a10a3bb2-11dd-4d68-bc39-e00b31295421

“We are just going to ensure that no else needs further education about the law and ensure with compliance with what the county public health officer is telling us that we need to be confined,” said San Diego Police Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.

The mayor’s executive order calls for all bars to close and restricts restaurants to pickup, delivery or drive-thru, dining-in is prohibited. The order is in effect until March 31.

Be aware of illegal price-gouging. There’s an unconfirmed report that an OB market is selling hamburger at $8 a pound, usually it’s half of that.
