Dumanis Was Swamped by Fletcher in County Supervisor Race

County Supervisor candidate and former District Attorney, Bonnie Dumanis, was simply swamped by Nathan Fletcher.

Check out this map of how all the precincts in Supervisor District 4 voted, thanks to inewsource.

As you can see plainly, Fletcher took all but 11 precincts, and one of those was a tie. District 4 includes most of the City of San Diego, including Ocean Beach, more than half of Point Loma, and all the other northern beach areas, as well as most neighborhoods north and south of I-8. All in all, a very Democratic-leaning area.

We can easily speculate that this race was probably the last one that Dumanis will run. She ran unsuccessfully for San Diego mayor in 2012, and has likely suffered a substantial burn-out after 15 years as the County’s DA and umpteen years as a judge before that, plus what with her past controversies and medical problems, this could be Bonnie’s curtain call.

Once dubbed “San Diego’s most powerful politician” Dumanis failed badly in the mayor’s race. And now being drubbed by Fletcher – a Democrat – trying for that elusive County seat, what else can she do in politics?

We urge you to go to inewsource and check out how individual precincts did.

  1. A few errors stood out in this article:
    – The small inset graphic is from a different race, its showing Jim Desmond and Michelle Gomez
    – “Bonnie’s current call” doesn’t make sense, maybe “curtain call”?
    – “illusive” should be “elusive”, the seat exists, its just hard to capture

    1. Karl, thanks, you were right on all points and we’ve now corrected them. Here’s the excuse: we don’t have proof readers. (I can’t believe editordude missed the inset screw-up though!)

  2. Yes Paul, inaccessible Lori gets kicked to her husband’s corrupt curb. Dumanis gets beat 2-1 by a former Republican. There is always hope.
