OB Crosswalk Analysis JA 03By Reid Corley

In response to an article that was written about possible crosswalks at certain intersections in Ocean Beach, which encouraged residents to contact the City of San Diego about them – I did.

As a surfer and someone who takes my daughter down to the OB Pier/seawall regularly, I see people try to cross at Abbott and Newport frequently and almost get hit by cars!

The City called me about three weeks ago, interviewed me about what I saw as the problem and said they would be sending someone out to inspect it at the peak time I gave ( I guessed 3:30-4:30 on Wednesday, being Farmers Market day).

I just received an email this past Thursday that they decided – based upon taking a look at it – that a crosswalk was indeed necessary at that intersection.

Anyhow, I have never filled out a request like that and did not expect anything to come from it. Thank you for putting up the article.
