May 12th Thursday 7 p.m. Film Night “Bitter Seeds” at the OB Green Center, 4843 B Voltaire in OB. – Bitter Seeds explores the controversy surrounding genetically modified (GM) seeds, focusing on a region in India where an epidemic of farmer suicides has claimed over a quarter million lives. Biotechnology is changing the way farming is done all over the world. Advocates believe the “New Green Revolution” is the only way to provide sufficient food for the world’s growing population while opponents raise environmental concerns and fear that GMOs drive small-scale farmers off the land. Bitter Seeds explores the controversy — from a village in India that uses genetically modified seeds to U.S. government agencies that promote them. The subject of Bitter Seeds is timely for the U.S., where states including California, Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, and Washington are debating and voting on initiatives requiring the labeling of GMOs in our food. Free of Charge :-)

May 14th -Saturday – 11am – OB Tenants United Meeting – Te Mana Cafe, 4956 Voltaire Street ;The rent in OB is steadily increasing. Landlords keep forcing rent hikes year after year. This issue affects all of San Diego, so please feel free to join us regardless of where you live.
