Of course, no one knows who’s doing it, but some of the walls of Sunset Cliffs are getting tagged with spray paint markings.
A roving eye for the OB Rag spotted them and told us that they are visible from the path just north of the old baseball field under Nazareen College.
It’s not clear to us at this point, whose jurisdiction that is. The college’s?

Maybe it’s the same jack@ss that wrote “Respect OB,” on the metal brace of a telephone pole with green spray paint, at Muir and Guizot. IDIOT.
That area is part of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. It is the responsibility of City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. The Sunset Cliffs Natural Park Council has repeatedly requested assignment of a park ranger to patrol and hopefully prevent some of the vandalism; as well as to advise casual park visitors about safety issues at the cliffs. Several city parks have rangers, but I don’t know a complete list. Sunset Cliffs does not have a ranger.
Rangers are different than police … more focused on education and public outreach … but able to provide enforcement when necessary.
Tagging is so lame. All it does is show how low class you are.
The Nazbo jurisdiction ends at the parking lot. Actually half of the parking lot is suppose to be public. Public Safety would never go after anyone doing anything, unless they are parked on their grounds. I once saw a group of kids with a huge BBQ cooking right under a tree. That tree could had gone up in flames so easily.
I say it’s up to the community to find these east county kooks tagging our neighborhood and citizen arrest them, or teach them a lesson that this is our neighborhood and they need to respect it.
Tagging buildings and infrastructure is one thing, a lot are eyesores themselves. Tagging trees, rocks and cliffs is a whole other level of lameness. What kind of ignorant f*cktard goes to a beautiful natural spot to paint with the skill of a 3-year old?
These cliffs pictured in the article appear to be the infamous super soft sandstone we were all warned about by our parents. Those of us who were lucky enough to live in OB as kids were warned about digging in the cliffs for fear of cave ins. So fear not! One good wave or rain storm will “wipe the slate clean.” And we can wait for some more “Paint” to sweat. The stuff is hopefully the same water base stuff we used in Pre-school. So maybe we will survive physically, if not emotionally.
