Climate Mobe poster 2 San Diego organizers are planning a “People’s Climate Walk and Rally for Mobilization” this Sunday, March 15th. And local OBceans are playing an important role in the event. In concert with demonstrations and rallies across the country, it is –

“a call to the United States Government to immediately commence a national World War II-style mobilization to transition the U.S. from fossil fuels to sustainable energy, including solar, wind and water.”

Climate Mobe poster SanDiegoThe San Diego mobilization will commence at 2pm at the San Diego City Hall Plaza with a rally and speakers. The rally will be followed by a walk to the Federal Building at Broadway and Front St.  The Swamp Critters will be providing music for the mobe.

Folks from Ocean Beach are playing central roles in Sunday’s events.  From the Green Store – Center to People’s Food, ecology activists are coming out of the woodwork to help lead this desperately needed mobilization.  People like Coleen Dietzel and Derek and Nancy Cassady are pulling their colleagues and associates into this organizing.

The People’s Climate Walk and Rally will have great speakers from Environmental Health Coalition, Sierra Club, San Diego 350, Citizen Climate Lobby, San Diego Labor Council, Scripps and OB’s own ecological designer Jim Bell.

Also a bike contingent is gathering at People’s Co-op at 12:30 and leaving at 1:00 to bike down to the rally.

This is the first of several rallies to build the movement leading up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in November
The next one will be on June 14th. Wouldn’t it be great to have a huge contingent coming from OB. If interested in helping or participating email Let’s make it happen. Colleen
