OCEAN BEACH, CA.  Ocean Beach residents who have organized recently to save the Ocean Beach Library from closure, have called for another rally in front of the OB branch. The rally has been called for Saturday, November 22nd at noon.  This second rally in front of the OB library is part of a series of events to keep the issue about the libraries alive and is being held in conjunction with rallies and leafleting at all 7 branches that are slated for closure, as part of Mayor Jerry Sanders’ budget proposals. A group of activists who have coalesced around the Friends of the San Diego Library and their local neighborhood affiliates have called for the simultaneous actions.

A loose network of groups, including the Friends of the OB Library, the Ocean Beach Historical Society, the OB Rag blog and a whole bunch of concerned OB residents have spearheaded local efforts to save the community’s historical branch.  Everyone is encouraged to show up and bring signs.

My friend sent this to me re: the SD Komen 3-day event, so we can be there at the foot of Newport in A.M., and then make it on over to the library…..

Cheering Stations are a great way to show your support along the 3-Day
route, to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every
step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that
extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the
next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some
noise – anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking. I’m
planning to cheer on the walkers at the OB Cheering Station. Come on out and
support our friends who are doing the 3-Day. Hope to see you there.
