We hit the streets today, Frank, Doug and I, and ventured out into the neighborhood to rub elbows with locals and not-so-locals and immerse ourselves in beer, brats and sunshine. Oktoberfest in Ocean Beach I’m sure is like no other.
We talked to lots of folks, a young man toting his young baby on his chest, vendors, volunteers – people from all walks of life and everyone had a smile to share.
We met old friends and people who share our sentiments and our sense of spirit.
Obama, balloons, Bratwurst, Buñuelos, a bit of Bavaria at the beach and the boys in blue…..
Bavarian tunes and dancing…..
Great costumes, great hats and great mugs! And maybe not in that order…..
What happened to the booze ban? I guess when you put up a fence and charge admission it doesn’t count.

Wonderful photos ! great job, Patty and Doug. You guys must have restricted the beer and brats enough to get this assignment done successfully.
So much for the beer ban.
I only stumbled onto your newsletter when a friend sent me an email re: the Octoberfest and there was a great picture of her and her husband in your picture section. Finally – someplace to go and read the views of people that think in the same vein as I do. I am going to spread the word – not just in OB but all over. It is wonderful to know that others feel the same way!
