From Neighbors for a Better San Diego
We Asked.
The City Refused.
Now We’re Suing.
San Diegans deserve to know who the Mayor’s secret housing advisors are.
Earlier this year, we asked a simple question:
Who is helping shape the housing and density policies that could dramatically change San Diego’s neighborhoods?
In June 2026, we told you about our Vice Chair Danna Givot’s efforts to identify the members of the Technical Working Group advising Mayor Gloria’s Neighborhood Homes for All of Us initiative. You can read that email here.
After that email, we kept asking.
And asking.
We made additional attempts to obtain the information.
We ultimately submitted formal requests under the California Public Records Act.
We still didn’t get answers.
So now we are asking a judge to compel the City to provide the requested information.
Neighbors For A Better San Diego, led by Vice Chair Danna Givot, is suing the City of San Diego and demanding it produce the public records we believe San Diegans are entitled to see.
This isn’t just about a list of names. Decisions involving zoning, density, and the future of our neighborhoods should not be shaped by special interests behind closed doors without the public knowing who has a seat at the table — and who doesn’t.

Neighbors For A Better San Diego is a local non-profit group of San Diego neighbors, community leaders, and advocates who seek the creation of policies that benefit homeowners, renters, small businesses, and other stakeholders.

Donations to NFABSD are tax-deductible. This group has fought valiantly (and effectively!) for neighborhoods across the city. They really deserve our support.
I support the effort by Neighbors for Better San Diego to completely expose the names of the men, women, and corporations to have been lobbying and meeting in secret with City of San Diego, County of San Diego, California Assembly and Senate leaders to pass “Zone Busting” legislation that is tearing apart the policies and regulations of the City and County General Plans to protect our residential neighborhoods, school zones, and separate industrial, commercial, and apartment/hotel/ADUs. Time to expose the corruption and restore community interests.
