The largest Earth Day celebration in San Diego will return this weekend to Balboa Park with more than 100 vendors, a full day of live entertainment and presentations and other activities focused on keeping our planet healthy and green.
San Diego EarthFest draws hundreds of people to Balboa Park each year in observance of Earth Day, which takes place on Wednesday, April 22. The festival itself is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at President’s Lawn along Park Boulevard.
It will feature an international food court with over two dozen vendors selling bites and beverages inspired by global cuisine.
The diverse array of food and beverages includes Of TeaTwist New Zealand-style ice cream, SR Thai BBQ, Teif’s Pacific Island Grill, Maya’s Cookies and more.
The main stage will house several live performances, such as hip-hop artistry and acoustic music, plus educational presentations about topics like building engaging content on social media to inspire change and creating a delicious hummus platter at home.
The organization Avian Behavior Conservancy will also discuss how the birds under its care bridge the gap between people and science. A full list of performances and times can be found here on San Diego EarthFest’s website.
EarthFest will also have plenty of interactive activities for kids to learn about caring for the planet, including arts and crafts, games, puzzles and a healthy eating plate challenge.

I can’t even keep track of what’s going on in Balboa Park. Is the parking free or not anymore? It wasn’t then it was then it wasn’t free. Or you can get a pass? I’d like to go to the Earth Day celebration but my first thought is what is the parking situation now.
Earth Day at Balboa Park was such a flop this year.
Where was the live music? There was one DJ which was hard to enjoy because there was a lady at her food booth talking on a mic over and over about the ingredients she used in her food near the DJ booth.
It was less than half of the vendors and food vendors as there normally was in the past. I have been going every year since I was young and could spend the whole day there looking at everything. We spent maybe 45mins there and left. Most vendors said the same thing when we asked why it was so empty, the parking situation. Very unfortunate, hopefully this changes by next year.
