San Diego Fix It Clinics June 8th Carlsbad, June 15th La Mesa and June 29th Chula Vista .We’ve become too accustomed to the throw-away lifestyle. If something breaks, we toss it out and buy a new one. This behavior is filling our landfills at an alarming rate, and electronic waste is now one of the biggest sources of pollution. So why not learn how to fix things instead?! Bring your broken, non-working items—electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, and more—for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you take apart and troubleshoot your item. Even if we can’t fix it, you’ll learn more about how it was made and works. This event is fun for the whole family, so bring your kids! We are expanding rapidly and will host events all over San Diego County. More info: https://events.humanitix.com/host/sdfixitclinic

Electrifying your home gives you the opportunity to be healthier and more comfortable and also do your part to fight climate change. But making the switch to an electrified life can be tricky: Can you afford a heat pump? What about solar panels or an induction stove? Will you need to get electrical work done first? Can you find a contractor who knows how to do the job? Despite the challenges, there’s never been a better time to go electric — new rebates and incentives are reducing costs, and a wealth of resources is now available to guide you. This free online forum, co-hosted by Canary Media and Generation180, will help you along on your own electrification journey. June 7th Friday National Gun Violence Awareness Day Event recommended by San Diegans for Gun Violence Prevention This year, we once again unite in our call to end gun violence as we come together for Wear Orange. We honor the communities shattered by gun violence alongside the more than 120 people who are shot and killed, and hundreds more who are wounded and traumatized, every day in our country. We deserve more than to live in a country where firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens in the United States. But as incidents of gun violence have grown, so too has the movement to stop it. By participating in Wear Orange online and in your community, we will organize, advocate, and rally for safer communities. Together we can build a future free from gun violence.
