Geneviéve Jones-Wright, a former San Diego public defender and proclaimed advocate for justice and social equality, has officially launched her bid for the 2024 mayoral seat against incumbent Todd Gloria.
With her nomination papers pulled, Wright so far is projected to go against eleven other candidates in the March 2024 mayoral race.
A San Diego native and previous runner up in the San Diego District Attorney race in 2018, Jones-Wright served as a public defender within the county for 13 years.
After her run for District-Attorney, Jones-Wright left the field to become a ‘social entrepreneur,’ which led to her becoming the co-founder of an impact litigation non-profit called Community Advocates for Just and Moral Governance (MoGo).
Genevieve Jones-Wright is the only candidate worthy of serious consideration for Mayor and her candidacy is the best possible news for all of us. Genevieve has actually stood with San Diegans with intelligence, thoughtfulness, grace, dignity and integrity time and time again. She has the proven record of meaningful advocacy as not only a Public Defender, but more importantly the accomplishments and noble efforts of Just and Moral Governance (MoGo). She has selflessly dedicated herself to “America’s Finest City” and advocating for the citizens that have remained here to fight against those corrupted, and contemptible opportunists that have all but hijacked San Diego Democratic Party for their own personal gain that has come at the cost to all of us that consider ourselves San Diegans.

Glad to see another person getting into the race against Gloria. I’m waiting to hear her thoughts on housing, bonus ADUs and how developers control City hall.
Yeah, lots of nice purposeful poses here and on her website, but what are her specific proposals? I could only find a brief bio and a “Donate” button on her website.
