COVID-19 has hit the staff of the OB Rag.
Patty is recovering from falling ill last week, and editordude spent most of Monday in bed.
Rag readers need to prepare themselves for slim-downed issues the entire week.

Oh, wow – sorry to hear! Wish you both a speedy recovery, and hope neither of you have any long-term complications.
You need beach therapy! When you can, wander on down and catch some of those healing rays.
SDU-T:
San Diego’s latest wastewater numbers show that the region is experiencing a massive increase in coronavirus transmission driven by BA.5, the subvariant now causing concern worldwide.
Updated Thursday by the SEARCH Coalition, a group of local research labs led by UC San Diego and Scripps Research, wastewater testing detected 15.5 million coronavirus copies per liter of wastewater sampled in Point Loma Wednesday. It’s a score that is 91 percent greater than the 8 million copies per liter detected in the same sampling location one week earlier.
The trend visible in wastewater is starkly different than the one depicted by the latest testing data released by the county health department Thursday. Comparing the same Wednesday-to-Wednesday period, positive test results reported to the health department fell 8.3 percent, dropping from 2,191 to 2,007.
Just an update about Long Covid. The Feds are starting to fire them for ‘not being productive.’ With NO safety net left at all for most working people much less federal workers? Think this is good news? I’ve got friends that aren’t doing too well as they are having the same problems that this woman is having…
Millions of Americans have long COVID. Many of them are no longer working.

So this is another crisis we surely don’t need on top of so many others it seems (like Mat said on another thread).
But, like homeless, let’s make them invisible, too! Terminally unemployable due to disease and 1 out of 5 reporting symptoms? That may end up numbering in the millions? That’s rather, ummmm, unnerving.
And covid is NOT done with us yet. Obviously since the RAG folks just went sick. In the months to come I’m hoping that this isn’t going to nail any of you as it’s taking months to show up for many people.
Good news is that there are scientists working on a vaccine for bat coronavirus’ in general not these ‘less sick’ flu shots we’ve been getting. I really hope they find something along the lines of the Polio vaccine!

Another update. And the new variant Omicron BA. 4.5 is now 4% of the ‘official’ case count, and BA. 5 is over 80%.
Remember: this is far below what the numbers really are due to the in-home test kits. I do hope people read m previous post.
One case reported for every 62 people in my county up here. One case for every 24 in San Diego.

Very good interactive map of the US, too.

We’re back to “normal.” Thanks for all the well-wishes.
