The upcoming Peninsula Community Planning Board meeting should be interesting as a San Diego Housing Commission representative and advocates for the Point Loma bike track will all be present. The bike track is on the agenda.
The Board meets Thursday, May 17 at the Point Loma Library, 3701 Voltaire Street, from 6:30 to 9pm.
Around 7pm, track advocate Katie Bendixen will assist the Board in a discussion about open space, development of the property at Famosa and Nimitz and the future of what’s called the Famosa Pump Track.
Also, on the same issue is an update by the San Diego Housing Commission and their plans for developing the property. The first discussion is listed as an “Action Item”, whereas the SDHC presentation is an “Information Item”. (It’s not clear why these 2 items – on the same issue – are not listed together.)
Another item on the agenda which could draw interest is listed as “Discussion on Appropriate Conduct / Actions”. The agenda supplement
explains: “Due to violations of various PCPB Bylaws over the past 12+months, the Board will discuss appropriate Board Member conduct and potential solutions to prevent such violations from occurring in the future.” The board member listed as leading the discussion is newly-elected president Robert Goldyn and refers to allegations and charges of board member bylaw violations and false accusations.
Plus, there there is an action item about the North Chapel at Liberty Station which is about the board sending a letter supporting the historic designation of North Chapel as a public use site.
Another action item is the board’s response to a Grand Jury report recently filed that denigrated community planning groups.
A suggestion to the board: question closely the City of San Diego rep on the city’s tree planting program in light of Mayor Faulconer’s budget cut-backs on the tree program.
