So with this situation, like any other busking situation as long as he isn’t breaking the law,(via a noise ordnance or drinking in public), this man has every right to busk in a public area that he can catch passerby’s for tips, and even charge for merchandise related to his performance. Legally he is protected by the first amendment. Now with the amp if he goes over a certain level of noise he can be kicked out over that, but for the most part it is well within his first amendment rights to be there. Look up Artists and Buskers Rights on google to learn more.
I don’t even want to hear it in a club, no less my own backyard! UGH!
This dude is obnoxious.
Will is right he is protected by 1st right amendments. It goes with any other acts of expression. Example: playing beach ball, playing music, hanging out, drawing, non profit or religious groups, smoking, skate boarding and etc. People may not like or agree with the expression but it is within his rights as long as he isn’t going over the noise regulations.
I know there are some people that love it too. I say watch his performance first and then see how you feel about it after. If you think its too loud tell him. He can turn it down.
Janet, did you forget what karaoke is? He’s not doing the singing – it would be drunk tourists or local teens who are too high to care. It’s not about first amendment rights; it’s about common decency and sensitivity to your fellow humans.
He really train wrecks Balboa Park too…he blasts art strolling patrons with his karaoke noise for hours on end. It’s funny until you see he is forcing other vendors (like the psychic healer next to him) to pack up and leave early
